Discover how artists use field studies and journals as inspiration for larger works.

Join artist Sophie Chauncy for a relaxed and inspiring workshop that celebrates the creative process through art journaling. Over two sessions, participants will explore how sketches, colour swatches, layered experiments, and written reflections can evolve into larger pieces of art.

Through imaginative prompts and hands-on activities, Sophie will guide you in using natural materials, watercolour, pastel, and ink to build your own visual journal. You’ll also gain insight into Sophie’s personal practice, as she shares examples from her own field studies and sketchbooks.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned artist, this workshop offers a fun and approachable way to develop observational skills, experiment with materials, and cultivate a creative process you can carry forward.

All materials provided with an art journal to take home.
No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity!

About Sophie Chauncy

Drawing inspiration from the natural surrounds of the Yanco Creek where her home studio is located, Chauncy employs multidisciplinary techniques such as watercolour, acrylic, clay, pastel, pen, pencil and charcoal whilst also experimenting with nature printing and stenciling with found materials such as leaves and bark for her works on paper and canvas.

Please Note: This workshop takes place over two Thursdays (23 & 30 October). We do not offer refunds or exchanges as a result of a change in your personal circumstances, including illness or change of mind.
