Join artist Marco Luccio for an insightful exploration of Myth, Mayhem & Metropolis.
In this Artist Talk, Luccio unpacks the stories, ideas, and creative processes that shape the exhibition, offering a unique perspective on how the works come together to form a compelling narrative.
Gain a deeper understanding of both the conceptual vision and physical construction of the exhibition and discover how each piece contributes to its overarching themes.
This talk will explore:
• The central themes of myth, chaos, and the modern city
• Key works, including The Struggle, Kongo Power Figure, and The Postcard Series
• The influence of global cities such as New York, Paris, and Melbourne on the imagery
• The relationship between personal experience and universal narratives
• The materials, techniques, and processes that underpin the work
About Marco Luccio
Born in Benevento near Naples in 1969, Luccio arrived in Australia in 1974. As a professional, award winning, full time artist he has held 50 solo exhibitions, has been selected and exhibited in over 208 group, curated and award shows and received several commissions including the City of Melbourne Bus Stop Program commission. Luccio’s work is represented in 42 public and corporate collections, including the New York Public Library, the Museum of the City of New York, The New York Historical Society, The National Gallery of Australia, The National Gallery of Victoria, The State Library of Victoria and The City of Melbourne. His work has been shortlisted for many major awards including twice for both the Dobell Drawing Prize and the Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing amongst many others. Luccio has had a studio in New York inside the Chrysler building for over ten years returning regularly to Manhattan to create new work and exhibit. Find out more: https://marcoluccio.com.au/
