Life Drawing workshop with Anthea da Silva

Speaking Place, Saturday 24th October, Piccolo Family Farm

“I’m so excited about our Life Drawing session with ArtFarm! We’ll celebrate the magic of drawing a REAL 3D person in REAL time – starting with exercises using line, shapes, forms & contours, lights & darks. Our model will move dynamically through a series of short poses and then, after lunch, we’ll move into longer poses that evoke stories & share our experiences.

You’ll notice a renewed engagement with the multi-sensory magic of seeing & drawing. Life Drawing is like yoga for artists because it’s so visceral, so multi sensory, enticing us to really look at another person in real time – in a consensual way. Being present in present time – listening to our thoughts… then returning to the marks we’re making on the paper in front of us. We empathise with poses, with pauses, dynamic or restful because we also share this human-ness. These exercises will feed to your broader creative practice.

This is your own adventure in a welcoming space – whether you’re an absolute beginner, a regular drawer or emerging from a hiatus and keen to see what creative adventures await. All materials are provided but feel free to bring your faves.”

$120 per person

Ticket includes Saturday workshop and materials, and welcome coffee on arrival and lunch, admission to the Speaking Place Festival on Sunday 25th October, where participants will showcase their newfound skills for the community.

Speaking Place workshops are for participants aged over 16 years. Participants aged under 18 years will require a guardian’s acknowledgement on waiver form.
