Discover our Region

Explore the Riverina

Make Griffith your base and spend a couple of days out and about exploring the region.

Head south to Darlington Point and enjoy the walks, wildlife and attractions in and around the Murrumbidgee River.

Travel west along the vast open plains of the Sturt Highway, stop in and visit Hay. A diversity of attractions, richness of cultural heritage and the warmth of true country hospitality awaits.

North-west along the Kidman Way brings you to the gateway to the outback, Carrathool Shire. National Parks, rivers and abundant wildlife.

When you head east through Yenda, the country changes to open plains, gentle rolling hills, broadacre farming, including large-scale wheat, barley and canola production. Fields of bright yellow flowering canola are a truly magnificent sight and are at their best in August.

In the south-east is the ‘Art Deco’ town of Leeton, via Whitton. Continue on to Narrandera and look out for one of our best loved native animals at the Narrandera Koala Reserve, home to more than 200 healthy koalas.

Travelling north-east you’ll enter Bland Shire where you can enjoy the impressive silo art in Weethalle. And in the south is the small town of Lockhart, home to an abundance of art and a centre for learning about Aboriginal culture.
