Spring School Holiday Activities

Local children and young visitors are in for a treat these school holidays with two weeks jam packed full of exciting activities and events to get involved in.

From vintage cars to fun runs, carnival rides at the show and a range of exciting art workshops, there’s so much to explore from 23rd September – 8th October 2023.

 

GRIFFITH’S BIGGEST LAP

Saturday 23rd September: From 5:30pm | Banna Avenue

The annual rolling car show that travels down Banna Avenue. Great for car enthusiasts and families to enjoy the sights and sounds as hundreds of classic, muscle and Aussie cars lap Griffith’s main street.

 

GRIFFITH ROTARY MARKET

Sunday 24th September: From 7:30am | Griffith Showgrounds

Meet the local growers at the Sunday market. Seasonal fruit and vegetables, bread, cakes, Italian biscuits, jams, relish, olive oil, eggs, honey and much more is what you will find when you head to the Griffith Rotary Markets.

CITY2LAKE 2023

Sunday 24th September: 8:00am | Jubilee Oval

Run, walk or ride the distance of nine kilometres for a fantastic cause. From Jubilee Oval to the picturesque Lake Wyangan picnic ground, this years City2Lake fundraiser will benefit

Can Assist Griffith. There will be trophies for runners and riders in all age categories as well as lucky prizes.

Entertainment and catering will be available at the finish line.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS AT GRIFFITH CITY LIBRARY

25th September – 6th October | Griffith City Library

Get down to the Griffith City Library to enjoy their

school holiday program packed full of creative and interactive activities for the little ones to enjoy. From Rhyme Time and storytelling to art’s, craft and Terrarium Workshops – there’s something for everyone over the next two weeks.

ACTIVITIES THE GRIFFITH LEAGUES CLUB

27th September – 6th October | Southside Leagues Club Family Terrace

The Griffith Leagues Club has a range of activities on the family terrace to fill in the two week stretch of the spring school holidays. Children can enjoy arts and crafts with a number of workshops by Tambourine Art Studio, face painting, sand art, balloon twisting and glitter tattoos with visits from Emma Wiggle and Elsa! You can even treat the little ones to free kids’ yoga to wrap up the break.

AUSTRALIAN VETERAN CAR CLUB RALLY AND MINI ACTION DAY

Monday 2nd October | Pioneer Park Museum

To compliment The Australian Veteran Car Club exhibition of cars here at the Museum, Pioneer Park Museum will be holding a machinery and market action day on Monday 2 October 2023. This event will give the community the opportunity to view the cars in their glory and experience a day out at the Museum. Market stalls, heritage and vintage vehicles ‘lap of honour’, train rides, blacksmithing, steam engines, musical entertainment and more! Food and drinks will be available on the day. Come along, support your local Museum and have a guaranteed great day out!

 

 

FROM DREAM TIME TO DINNER TIME

From August 2023 | Pioneer Park Museum

This exhibition brings together historical and cultural perspectives of Murray Cod.

The apex predator of the Basin is also a great father and becoming our region’s hottest export as a premium aquaculture product. Featuring Gugabul, the sculpture created by the Hands On Weavers and an animated video by Aunty Lorraine Tye.

 

OWEN LYONS WORKSHOP WITH HEADSPACE GRIFFITH

Wednesday 4th October – 10:30am – 1:30pm | Headspace Griffith

Join Owen Lyons at Headspace Griffith to gain a deeper understanding of Wiradjuri culture and paint the symbols utilised in Wiradjuri art on your very own canvas during the workshop. A FREE community workshop available to those aged 12-15.

SONGMAKERS 2 – DAY SONGWRITING WORKSHOP

5th – 6th October – 9.00am – 4.00pm | Piccolo Family Farm

Piccolo Family Farm will be hosting free song writing workshops presented by national music organisation, APRA AMCOS. FREE places are being offered to spend two days writing and recording songs and learning about music careers from some of Australia’s most exciting creators.

GLOW ROLLER DISCO

Friday 6th October – 3:30pm – 9:00pm | Griffith Regional Sports Centre

Griffith’s Youth Advisory Group presents another ‘Glow Roller Disco’ featuring live local DJ’s, free face painting and refreshments.

 

THE REAL JUICE CITRUS SCULPTURES

Sunday 8th – Saturday 21st October | Banna Avenue

Explore the Real Juice Company Citrus Sculptures, the annual display made from over 100,000 oranges and grapefruits. The hero element of Griffith Spring Fest will welcome 9 new exciting sculptures into this year’s collection.
